DHANANJAY KHAIRNAR completed his education from Diploma in Computer Engineering. But his dream of becoming a good storyteller and hence he started to make the short films. After making one short film and two documentaries in 2017, he completed the 'Film Appreciation Course' from the "Film and Television Institute of India" (FTII) this year. While working on different subjects, the film medium seems to be very effective to reach those stories correctly. He made first short film “4/30” about “Women Mensuration Cycle” in Jan 2017. The film is selected by deferent festivals like Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival- Delhi, Nasik International Film Festival- Nasik, Goa Short Film Festival- Goa, Pune Short Film Festival-Pune. Then Jun 2017 he worked on second project, a Short Documentary ‘Antayatra’ about “a woman who serves the dead bodies”. This Documentary select for ‘People Choice Price’ in the contest of ‘Its Happened Only In India’. And now his third project is Marathi documentary film “PHAD - A Maharashtrian Folk Art” which is based on Maharashtrian Folk Art, “Tamasha”
The roots of this distinctive folk art from can be traced back to 250-300 years. This art from gave birth to many artists who also gain popularity out of it. Unfortunately, what the society didn't give them till date is respect, like any other human being...
So i think this documentary is the small part of the change thinking about this artist..
