Talon Darren Winsnes is a Canadian born Norwegian writer/director. Growing up Talon would immerse himself in horror movies. His love for some would inspire him to take his bachelors degree in directing at Westerdals Oslo ACT in Oslo, Norway. After finishing his degree He has directed commercials, music videos and worked in television and film. But his passion lies with his own work, with his latest film “Pesta” (2021) showcasing both his love for horror, but also intricate emotional stories. His dream is to write and direct a full feature horror film.
After graduating film school it’s been a hard time being able to get any productions off the ground. Me and my producer in this film decided that we just needed to grab a camera and go into the woods and shoot something, anything, just to make something again. The summer of 2019 my producer came to me with a simple film idea/premise based on the painting “Pesta” by Theodore Kittelsen. As I started writing I discovered that the story I was writing was much more complex and emotional than what I had planned. And what started as a simple run and gun horror film up in the mountains, turned into a emotional break-story that I fell in love with. My love for horror still had to be present in the project, and I used my love for horror to distance myself and the film from the standard relationship drama.
From start to finish this production has been a rollercoaster, from walking miles up a mountain with film equipment, filming in a rain storm at 2 am to being able to to work with such talented people both in front and behind the camera. All while in the midst of a pandemic.
