Perspective
At the after party of a long, cocaine-filled night, two old school peers make an unlikely reconnection. One apologising for their bullying and homophobia during their time at school, and the other understanding why.

Honorable Mention
Harry Stoneman is a 20 year old student born and raised in Portsmouth and studying filmmaking at Screen and Film School Brighton.
Stoneman is a lover of campy, chick-flicks and romantic comedies such as Clueless, When Harry Met Sally and Mean Girls. Contrastingly, he is a huge fan of Sean Baker and his neo-realism style in Tangerine and The Florida Project. He hopes to create a style that feels both camp, joyful and surreal but grounded in truth and reality, as well as highlighting themes close to his heart such as the queer experience in the 21st Century UK.
This year, Harry has written and directed three short films as well editing two short films and creating social media content for an independent restaurant in Brighton. He is hoping to continue developing his skills as a filmmaker and work on exciting new projects in his third year at film school.
“I have been openly gay since I was 12 years old, and for at least half of my time in secondary school, until maybe year 9/10, I was the only openly queer person in my year group. This kinda inevitably meant there was very difficult and isolating at times for me, but for the most part, I persevered and kept my eyes on the prize: the future.
Later in life, I’ve had numerous encounters with bullies from my secondary school, either in casual conversation where they have apologised for their behaviour, stating they didn’t know any better and their perspective (wink) was different (which is fair), or more… Interestingly, when I’ve spoken to a few on gay dating apps or had a very drunken conversation on a night out and discovered they are a DL (down-low lgbtq), I knew I wanted to write a screenplay about this topic, layering the themes of internalised homophobia and of our country’s perceptions changing with time.
It was an amazing experience creating this film, especially working with my incredible actors who both deeply related to their characters and were open enough to have insightful conversations about this. I am grateful to watch this film with a smile on my face as I look back to the pure joy the shoot day brought with such a positive and professional cast and crew.
I hope audiences can watch this film and have a laugh, be surprised by and empathetic to the characters, and gain a new perspective.”
