People in a circle
Jin-cheol, Jin-hee’s deceased brother, frequently appears in her dreams as the 49-day Buddhist ritual approaches. Struggling with anxiety from a nervous breakdown, Jin-hee becomes increasingly hysterical.
Seung-bong, a hair salon owner, visits Jin-hee’s beauty salon every Sunday to get his hair done before heading to a nearby church. However, he casts lewd glances at Jin-hee. Under the pretense of a business-related issue, he tries to get closer to her, all while their next-door neighbor, Dong-hee’s grandmother, watches with suspicion.
Meanwhile, Soo-hyang, a former member of the pungmul band who left Suwon three years ago, suddenly reappears before Young-ho.

Yim Cheol-bin (b. July 23, 1969) is an independent arthouse film director and producer based in Suwon, South Korea. He has been actively creating and directing independent films, exploring diverse themes and artistic expressions.
Studied film at various cinematheques in Korea since the late 1990s, and made short films. And this time, I produced and directed my first full-length film
The film transposes the traditional mask dance drama to the everyday lives of people living in a village within the walls of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress. Just as the mask dance drama unfolds in a circular arena, the narrative of this film takes place within the circular fortress, seamlessly blending tradition with contemporary life.
The five main characters in the film embody the negative aspects of human nature, each representing incompetence, dependence, obsession, arrogance, and decadence. Their superficial tendencies and limitations prevent them from relying on others, leaving them overwhelmed by fear and despair at the most critical moments. As their own choices lead to the collapse of their relationships, they inevitably find themselves trapped in a cycle, repeating the same patterns of life once again.
