James Lefkowitz graduated with honors from NYU Tisch School Of the Arts for Film and Television. With the independent spirit of the 90’s and a digital video camera James began working as a shooter, producer, and editor all around the world on music videos, documentaries, short films, features, and fashion films which has helped shape a more rounded perspective as a director/writer. As the son of psychotherapists and social activists much of his work relates to the human condition and he has explored all walks of life whether the youth of Tijuana in his feature TIJUANA MAKES ME HAPPY, fashion models in his documentary, PICTURE ME, mental health patients in the hundreds of interviews he has produced or a professional wrestler in the romantic comedy THE DOG WEDDING. With a documentary and narrative background his films and style cross the line of fiction and reality. There is no job in film or television James hasn't done from the technical to the artistic as well as navigating the world of distribution and marketing. With a passion for sharing his experience and love of cinema and the independent spirit, James co-founded the former NEIGHBORHOOD FILM ACADEMY which gave underserved youth a free workshop on making short film but since then has mentored and developed workshops around the world including his last workshop with the US Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia. When not working in film James spends his time as a sound healer using Himalayan Singing Bowls.
The film was inspired by the sweetest peach I've ever tasted while scouting locations in Croatia. It lead to an improvisational experiment while thinking about time and how all things change.
