Patrick O'Shea has worked on films from New York to Luxembourg, Denmark to the UK and all
over Ireland. He graduated from the Dublin Institute of Technology with a B.Sc. In
Communications: Film & Broadcasting and was Head of Operations for Future TV Media Centre in
Dublin, after which he moved to Luxembourg and worked in the film studios of Carousel Pictures
and Deluxe Productions. His debut feature film 'Tree Keeper' premiered at the 56th Cork Film
Festival and has screened around the world.
He co-wrote and directed the award winning short 'The Brutal Truth' and his short documentary
'Jackie Oh!!!' featuring Urban Artist Fin DAC won the Consulate of Ireland Award at the Chicago
Irish Film Festival in March 2015. His short horror film, ‘The Sign’ was shortlisted for competition
in Spike Lee’s Babelgum Online Film Festival 2009. His short film ‘Penny’ won the Prize for ‘Best
Drama’ at the Fastnet Short Film Festival in 2009 and screened on RTÉ as part of its Short Screen
series.
Patrick's debut feature documentary, 'Why is there anything instead of nothing' (2017), portrays the
life and work of Irish/American artist Tighe O'Donoghue/Ross. The film is a visual tour de force
that explores such themes as art, philosophy, ancestry and family. Starline Entertainment are
handling worldwide distribution.
Patrick shoots and directs the Fastnet Film Festival Greenroom Interviews. Past interviewees
include Steve Coogan, Stephen Frears, Joan Bergin, Lenny Abrahamson, Pat Shortt, David
Puttnam, Jim Sheridan and John Madden to name but a few.
Patrick also lectures TV and Video to final year journalism students in Griffith College Cork.
