Olz is a young and emerging film director from London. Aged only 23 his films have screened at the BFI twice. His films are powerful, meaningful and emotional, driven by the belief that film is the best medium to entertain and educate. With skills in directing, cinematography and editing he has worked with the likes of Coca-Cola, JP Morgan and YouTube to create commercials and music videos. He has his sights set on a 'Best Director' Oscar, and he is currently in production on his debut feature.
I came across the wildlife photographer David Plummer and a book he released in aid of the Parkinson's UK charity, and instantly thought what a great subject for a documentary he would be. I reached out to him, not expecting a reply, and received an instant response. He was in !! From that point I started searching for other incredible people who were effected by Parkinson's Disease but still doing amazing physical feats. And that's where Alex Echo and Nigel Bates came in.
The purpose of this film is to share the stories of these amazing people, but also give hope and courage to anyone watching. Despite hardships and struggles in life, there is a way through. There is a silver lining to every grey cloud.
Since making this film the charity Parkinson's Africa have now commissioned myself and David Plummer to go to Kenya and make a documentary about Parkinson's in Africa and the lack of awareness and support there is for it. It is easy to forget the privileges we have sometimes...
