Party Like 2009 by Melotika

The official music video for Canadian Electropop artist Melotika's latest single "Party Like 2009." Filmed and directed by iRadios Productions, Melotika reinvents Retro with her throwback music video paying homage to the year 2009, reminiscing the golden age of dance pop through thrifty indie sleaze fashion at a house party with a retro and Victorian aesthetic. "Party Like 2009" is more than just a trip down memory lane; it's an anthem of empowerment and liberation.

Director Biography - Johny Mikhael, Melany Yelle-Nikischer

If Melotika could be described using a single word, that word would have to be authentic. The rising pop artist invites fans along with her on coming-of-age journeys about growing up, self-reflection, and finding inner confidence—themes everyone can relate to in some way—and she keeps them dancing the whole time. By sticking true to who she is, how she feels, and what she wants, Melotika has pioneered a New Retro Pop style that doesn’t play into trends, fads, or constantly changing obsessions; her music is real, bona fide, and easy to connect with. Active since 2017 and releasing music since 2018, Melotika has made a splash with singles like 2021’s “Crazy” and “Dancing Without You,” and 2022’s “Digital Dreams” and “#1.”

Deriving inspiration from all eras of pop music, Melotika blends sounds and looks characteristic of the late ‘70s and ‘80s, with stylistic and musical influences from the mid-late ‘00s era. Her music almost becomes experimental in combining so many styles from different time periods, but it’s still undeniably catchy, danceable pop, and makes no pretensions about being anything else. Singing with a signature low register, Melotika brings back a grandiose, larger-than-life superstar quality that is a stark contrast to the modern, stripped-down, indie approach many opt for.
