Stacey Kelly is a director with 20+ years experience making story-driven content for television and YouTube channels. She is now taking her storytelling skills to tell impactful narrative movies about mixed race families and their unique experiences in America.
In April 2020, Stacey observed how children were sad about their upended routines and canceled birthday parties. She pitched a series to Rainn Wilson's Soul Pancake channel in which the children got surprised by having a zoom meeting with their favorite YouTuber. The series went viral and was picked up for a second season. Stacey also directed 20 music videos for the Wisconsin Democrats’ fundraiser performance of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” starring Rosario Dawson, Eiza Gonzalez, Ben Barnes, Lance Bass, Tim Curry, and Jason Alexander. The event raised $1 million in funds and helped in the Democrats' success of turning the state blue in 2020.
Stacey is a leader who advocates for diversity and inclusion in entertainment/media and has participated on panels by organizations such as Studio71, Viacom Recruiting, Young Storytellers, and the Producers Guild of America.
Inspired by my experience in television and digital media, I'm excited to tell the story of a young woman discovering her power through taking control of what she wants - even if it's just one night. Will our heroine discover that letting go is not only acceptable - but can also be empowering? With humor and a little inner turmoil of the impending "walk of shame", this romantic comedy shows that unapologetically living your truth isn't wrong; embracing your heart's desires can be liberating! This film celebrates female empowerment in the modern age by illustrating that liberation can be found through letting go.
