Connie “Paprika” Leaverton has travelled the world as a filmmaker and professional juggler for over 20 years. Through her travels as a performer, she found an unusual culture of women jugglers in Tonga and decided to document their beautiful and intriguing stories with Hiko or Juggling being the common thread.
Traveling to Tonga twice, she found not only a sisterhood of jugglers, but she found a culture that is almost lost. Her goal with this move it to Keep Hiko Alive!
HIKO in Tonga will be released October of 2020
and will debut soon at a screen near you.
Though she has produced and directed many corporate and commercial films, this is her first feature length documentary.

Paprika is a juggling gypsy with a filmmakers heart and a magical touch.
An interesting combination for a West Texas girl who broke all the molds.

Jugglers throughout the world are mostly men..but in Tonga, only women juggle and men wouldn't dare. A Culture Almost Lost. Keep Hiko Alive!
There are good days and there are bad days, and this is one of them.
