Paper Makers

Our planet needs heroes. But to effectively tackle climate change and threats to biodiversity, we can’t just rely on the values and actions of individuals.

And so every day, the entire U.S. paper and packaging industry steps up. “Paper Makers,” our docu-style film, tells the story of an industry that has worked in tandem with nature, and advocated on its behalf, for decades.

Through interwoven portraits of mill workers and paper science and engineering professionals, “Paper Makers” paints a picture of a modern industry with a never-before-told story of sustainability and environmental stewardship. Through intimate interviews, we learn what motivates our cast, and how their love of the land gives their work meaning.

What surprising practices do we uncover in the process? An industry that uses every part of the tree, leaving nothing wasted. Recycling at an epic scale. American forests that owe their survival to an industry invested in their regeneration.

No products are more omnipresent in our lives than those made of paper. And as it turns out, no work is more meaningful.
