Our film cut off half way through! Apparently, the organiser left the test running unsupervised. The film and the file had screened successfully at 8 other festivals. ????

    Response from festival:

I appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns in your review.
Firstly, I must express my disappointment at its posting, particularly considering the extensive efforts made to promptly address and compensate for any inconvenience caused.

Throughout the entire process, I shared in the frustration experienced with the cinema, especially on the night of the event. Despite our repeated attempts to arrange a re screening, the cinema regrettably couldn't accommodate our request. As a gesture of goodwill, I took it upon myself to refund all your guests' tickets, recognising the importance of ensuring your satisfaction with the event. I genuinely explored all available options to resolve the issue.

Regarding your film, I want to emphasise that its selection for screening, albeit not winning, remains a significant accomplishment. However, I understand your disappointment, particularly given the challenges you encountered in delivering the film on time for the festival.

I acknowledge that my absence at the cinema's test screening prevented me from addressing any potential issues with the film file beforehand so I was unaware of the corrupted film file. Unfortunately, circumstances beyond my control, originating from the cinema, led to this situation, resulting in a sub par screening performance.

In light of these challenges, we have decided to seek out a new venue for future events, as we cannot risk a recurrence of such issues. I take every effort possible in providing a great experience for the film makers and guests. Other than my independent judges all of the work is done by me and all the funds that come in go towards the event. I don't make money from the event at all.

Regarding future submissions, if my efforts to rectify the situation both on the night of the event and in the subsequent days were insufficient for you, then I respect your decision not to submit further work to us.

Once again, I apologise for any disappointment or frustration you experienced. If you wish to discuss this matter further or provide additional feedback, please don't hesitate to reach out.
