Director Biography - Mohammad Ahsan

“Mohammad Ahsan is a filmmaker based in Lahore, Pakistan. He studied Film & Television, in which he holds a degree from University Of Lahore, Pakistan. He works as a screenwriter, director and producer. Ahsan sometimes gets ideas for the characters in his films, from his own life experiences. Ahsan directed the short drama film, Pehchaan, in 2022. After working as a crew member on several shorts in university, this film is his directorial debut. He has also worked as a 1st AD on the drama short film, “Daaj”. Ahsan enjoyed his direction classes in University and has been hooked ever since. His dream is to direct a feature film for a major production company and is currently building his body of work as a director.”

Director Statement

“This film will always be special to me because it is based on a particular chapter from my past that I cannot forget till today. It was a difficult phase for me. I really don’t know how I got through it, still can’t believe it though.
This film is so close to my heart, I chose to write and direct this film so that I can revisit the times from the past, to place myself and the audience in those moments and try to connect with the different emotions. I want the audience to feel the agony behind this film. I want them to understand that how hard and painful it gets for someone when they learn out of nowhere that they are adopted or their parents are not their biological parents. The main character in the film, Ahsan, faces a similar experience and is uncertain of how to confront this situation. The film depicts the suffering of the protagonist.

The trauma, the anxiety, the stress level is just unbearable. It cannot be expressed in words. Believe me it’s the worst feeling of all.
Creating this film helped me deal with the pain I experienced years ago.”
