THE LANDSCAPE PAINTER
A man who plants trees. The idea seems obvious today. It is not in the peasant world. After the land consolidation of the 1970s, the trend to uprooting remained entrenched among farmers. Not for my father. The shade of the branches, the humidity and the return of biodiversity are a strength for his fields. For more than 30 years, he has been putting a part of dream, of irrationality into this act. A vegetal trace that will remain after him, while the future of his farm is today at a turning point.

Daughter of a farmer, who came to Paris more than ten years ago to study journalism, I've never stopped feeling torn between these two worlds. To hold a camera or to put my hands back in the dirt? I finally chose to combine the two in my own way, by filming the world I come from. A world that is not spectacular but captivating, where light and sky define the daily work and the next day's work. A world where I have seen the trees grow and the landscape change under the tireless work of my father and his parents before him. From my childhood in the Normandy countryside, I keep these roots deeply anchored. After having produced reports and magazines for French television over the last few years, this time I am taking the long view, filming these changes that only take place over the months, to the rhythm of the seasons.
