PALMA JAPAN INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL (PJISFF) is a charitable, non-profit and non-governmental organisation dedicated to the discovery and promotion of creativity in the art and culture of film.
The PALMA JAPAN INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL (PJISFF) is held annually in March. The main theater is Kineka Omori, the first cinema complex in Japan and famous for its venerable theater. In Japan, there is still a wonderful culture of screening independent films at the theaters, which is unique in the world. However, many movie theaters have gone out of business due to Covid-19. This has a significant impact on the future of independent film. Therefore, PJISFF was created with the purpose of supporting movie theaters.
Through its annual program, PJISFF will promote international recognition, introduce Japanese audiences to short films from around the world, and continue to emphasize the important place of cinema in independent film.
PJISFF embraces all types of films, regardless of the prevailing trends of the times, with "Pure," "Ambitious," "Live Action," "Multi-genre," and "Ageless" as its basic axes.
PJISFF's high quality, intelligent programming and dedication to the discovery of new fields of filmmaking have earned it a unique and respected reputation, contributing to the promotion of cinema at home and abroad.
With over 300 films submitted each year and tickets sold out in three days, PJISFF continues to evolve in the underground of film art in Japan!
PJISFF is comprised of the following awards.
1) Palma Bolex : The Grand prix
2) Palma Eclair: The Second Prize
3) The Best Director award
4) The Best Actor Award
5) Best Audience Award
6) Cinema Scope Award: New face award.
7) Vista Vision Award: Given to a film with various unpredictable elements.
Furthermore, there is a section called "URA PALMA" in PJISFF and we hide and show the works that treated the taboo work which we cannot show in the present age.
