Experiencing Interruptions?

Outsider

This is a prolonged dream after being betrayed.
In Wu Qingfeng's "Spaceman" album, music and visual are closely connected together, like an infinite loop of dreams, and in every song and every visual lies a paradox of duality, as we often say: Dreams are the opposite to reality.

The story describes the deep sea as inner state and the abandoned aquarium as outer state. Those fishes that should have lived in the sea were made into specimens, turning the abandoned aquarium to be the inner state whereas the supposedly inner state deep sea switched into outer state. Infrared camera was used to illustrate the darkness in the deep sea, mimicking the low light visibility atmosphere. Footages were shot simultaneously using two different cameras, infrared mode and default mode. Both visuals were then juxtaposed and overlapped together resulting an incoherent and incongruent effect that represents the implications of dualism. All the character that appeared in each music videos from the entire album made an remarkable appearance in “Outsider” as the epilogue. The abstract and tangible deconstruction is like a parallel universe, a poem, a scene, a story.

The concept of "Outsider" is not only about the relation between the polarity in the messages of the lyrics by portraying through the dream-like state surrealistic visuals, it is also interconnected with the other 11 music videos in the album. Each song’s beginning and ending of the stories in music video is related to each other, it is a series of interplay. Ultimately, in the final music video "Outsider", we assigned each stories that once appeared to a ambiguous finale, redefining the narratives of the overall concept in this plan, which is both a culmination and a silver lining.

This is a prolonged dream. When we encounter perplexing scenarios in life, perhaps we could look for the most suitable answers on the flip side.
