Out of reach
“Out Of Reach”, very apparent in its name, is the distance that has yet to be bridged between a conflict ridden forest land and education. Under the pretext of being a forest land, the inhabitants are yet to avail facilities of basic education from the government, their demands repeatedly ignored. These conflicts, mainly communal in nature have also compelled the inhabitants time and again to flee their land and settle in camps. More than 100 children here are deprived of education because the area is basically disconnected from the mainland. The nearest schools are at a range of 7-8 km, and can be accessed by crossing paths (not exactly roads) which are not conducive to the safety of these children. The bigger picture hence is dismal: children are deprived their basic right to education.

Since 2005, Dinanath Doimary has been working with the organisation The Ant in Chirang district of Assam. In 2017, Dinanath joined the Green Hub fellowship program and made 2 major films, both depicting his community in Chirang.
I was working in the education sector and it really affected me when I noticed that even in the age of such modern technology, there are still people out there who are not being able to avail their basic human rights. Hence, I wanted to bring this issue forward to everyone and made this film.
