Out of Service
Ageing Hilary, her non-binary grandchild Sydney, and Karen their mother, are brought together in solidarity, when Hilary stages a one woman protest objecting the cancellation of the essential, village bus.
Shining hope into the darkness, that if communities /families come together, in a moment of crisis, regardless of their age or cultural difference, they can affect change.

I am a BAFTA winning screenwriter, with a passion to be able to direct my own work and vision,. However as a woman over a certain age, this has become increasingly difficult to realise in the industry. I remedied that by not only writing a piece which explores the themes of ageism and invisibility of women both on and behind the screen. I secured an amazing cast and was able to make the film. In order to dispel the, it's grim up north, trope, I chose visually to find the light and colour, both in the warms of the characters and set.
