I'm a writer from Chicago, Illinois, trying to make inroads with my work.
"Outlaws of Contrition County" is meant to incorporate modern tools and technology to enhance the storytelling methods of a straightforward homage to golden-age Hollywood Westerns in the vein of "Silverado" and "Tombstone", but with pacing and action setpieces that will appeal to modern audiences. This is the effective way to entice viewership. People already want to see a Western. That's why they show up in the first weekend. The reason they stop coming is that the product they're presented isn't a Western. It's either a highbrow think piece that's short on thrills or something more anachronistic in style, such as the 2016 remake of "The Magnificent Seven" or Netflix's "The Harder They Fall". Such offerings are worthwhile, but there needs to be a baseline. I write movies that will make people money. If you think I'm full of shit, try me.
