Director Statement

Outbreak was born from my fascination with the unintended consequences of human actions, especially when driven by desperation and greed. As the world experienced the shock of a global pandemic, I was inspired to tell a story that reflects our fears, anxieties, and the fragile line between control and chaos. This film explores what happens when we push the boundaries of science without considering the cost, and how a single moment can spiral into a catastrophe that affects us all.

Shot entirely on a mobile phone, Outbreak is a testament to the idea that powerful stories don’t require elaborate budgets or high-end equipment—only a passion for storytelling and a willingness to take creative risks. My goal was to create a visceral experience that draws viewers into the tension and suspense from the very first scene, keeping them on the edge of their seats as the horror unfolds.

At its core, Outbreak is a film about the human condition—about the choices we make when our backs are against the wall, and the ripple effects those decisions have on those around us. I wanted to craft a narrative that not only entertains but also provokes thought about our responsibility to one another and the world we live in.

I hope this film resonates with audiences and serves as a reminder of our shared vulnerabilities, as well as our resilience in the face of the unknown. Thank you for considering Outbreak for your festival. I am excited to share this journey with you.
