Our Little El Dorado
A village near Krakow fights for survival, weighed down by the burden of debts incurred by its overly ambitious head. Mayor Kulig once experienced a personal tragedy - he lost his beloved son, the famous rally driver, with whom he had great ambitions. Has it affected the community? The film, although told through the prism of troubles and conflicts, is an energetic and cheerful allegory of our world inhabited by people who usually mean well, but do not always succeed.

I grew up in Warsaw, where everything is plentiful, everywhere far away. When, having a wife and children, I moved to a small town near Warsaw - Piaseczno, I was struck by the great generosity of this world - separate offices, a local newspaper and elections, a small center with a community center and shops. Like a separate micro-state. I like it very much, living in this small urban organism.
For many years, my dream was to portray such a local community as a separate microworld, living its own rhythm, busy with its own affairs. So when in the spring of 2019 I came across a short article in the newspaper entitled "Łapanów puts out the light" and I read about the troubles of the commune, I thought that this is Poland in a nutshell. When I went to Łapanów with my camera, it turned out that it's not just Poland - it's the whole world in a nutshell!
