Director Statement

"Hello! I'm the director, Jacob Parvin, and this will be my directorial debut. I've always dreamt of directing a film, yet never felt as if the right story was there for me to tell. However, following a particular evening spent with my grandmother where we sat and I was told a myriad of incredible stories about my Romany heritage, I realised the perfect story had been right there in front of me all along.

Our Gypsy Blood is not only a film which destigmatises and showcases the genuine beauty and passion of Roma culture and lifestyle, but it likewise allows the viewer to experience my personal journey of rediscovering a culture which I had hidden away for so many years. This film was a vehicle for me to embrace and truly live my heritage.

This film is for the Roma community, with all my love, and hopefully it will be a major step forward for the general public to realise that Gypsies are a rich, creative and beautiful race of people, and I am truly excited for you all to join me on this wonderful journey."
