Our Daily Bread

Bernard is part of a crime syndicate from the Copperbelt who work for a dangerous Crime Boss. He’s asked by his syndicate to travel to Lusaka to get a large amount of money from one of their illegal activities. Instead of returning to the Copperbelt with the money he keeps the money with the intention of starting a new life with his girlfriend, Church Treasurer Dona.
His ring learns of Bernard’s betrayal and afraid that their boss will kill them for not delivering the money, they go after him. They find him, while trying to get him to tell them where the money is, a scuffle ensues and Bernard is shot and wounded badly.
He manages to run away and Dona hides him in the church. But Bernard’s condition gets worse, once Dona realizes how dire his situation is, she leaves to get him help. While she’s away, Bernard succumbs to his injuries and dies.
His body and the money are discovered by Elizabeth (the Pastor’s wife), Towela (Choir Master) and Remedy (Jnr. Pastor). They decide to keep the money and bury the body. Dona returns to the church and is devastated to find Bernard is dead but she can’t tell the others that she knows him. Instead she agrees to help them.
They bury the body and agree to ‘invest’ the money in the church but each of them has separate plans for the money. Meanwhile Bernard’s ring track down his movements and join the church in a bid to find out what happened to him and the money. They need to find the money quickly and get it back to their boss before he has them killed.
