OrthoGirl ShortScript
OrthoGirl is a 10-page screenplay for a short romance film about Zoey a secular Jewish woman & Azel an Ultra Orthodox man.
Amazing projects such as Unorthodox & Disobedience depict the beauty of breaking free from a restrictive world. OrthoGirl shows the other side of that desire. Zoey says she yearns for "something, someone spiritual."
Nothing Fails by Madonna conveys the tone of OrthoGirl: "I’m not religious, but I feel such love, makes me want to pray."

Jeryl Parade is the writer/director of the award-winning Web series The Elite 8 & the new retro series, My 90s. In 2019 The Elite 8 was an official selection at 20 film festivals in major US & European cities & Israel. My 90s recently won Best Episodic Series at Dreamachine International Film Festival (LA, 2023).
She also wrote & directed the hit DC Capital Fringe play, Girl with Two Belly Buttons. All 3 of those projects explore relationships through the lens of time. Jeryl studied filmmaking at USC & writing at The New School.
The story takes place in Georgetown & is also my love letter to DC where I lived from 2008 to 2022! It is also based on my experiences saying Kaddish for my mom in 2002-03 & for my dad in 2018-19 in Orthodox synagogues.
