Orchid in a frenzy
Paris, 1889, a young woman who suffers from a neurological disease is admitted to the Salpêtrière hospital. Her illness is called the dance of Saint-Vitus and provokes spasms and uncontrolled movements. She discovered the dance during the famous Madwoman’s ball which takes places once a year in the establishment, and found in this art a way to heal herself differently.

Passionate about drawing since she was young, Elisa wanted to make movies in middle school, and it has never changed since. To specialize in Fine Arts after graduation, she chose to do an Arts and Design baccalaureate diploma and then joined École Émile Cohl in Lyon.
Graduated with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts in 2021, she specialize in animation and she directed with a small team, the short films Mauvaise Récolte for the Tiji channel and The Right Place for the Annecy Animation Festival 2022 MIFA. She likes exploring various traditional or digital technics in animation and therefore, in her graduation film she tested something different: oil painting animated on glass. The story is freely inspired by the life of the dancer Jane Avril in the late 19th century. She would like to continue experimenting in as many ways as possible to tell stories with varied artistic direction. Directors and films that inspire her are both animated films and live action films. For her graduation project, her references were mainly films in animated painting or puppets such as The bigger picture by Daisy Jacobs, À l’horizon by Isabela Bartosik or even Florence Miailhe’s short films.
She graduated with a master’s degree in animation in January 2024.
