At the moment, I work in Television and Film in the Camera Department, and Union Member of Local 600 Cinematographers Guild as a Digital Loader. When I have free time, I Write, Produce and Direct Indie Projects. I currently have 1 Short film titled, “The Ice Cream Stop”, listed on TUBI and AMAZON Prime which won multiple awards. Another Indie project titled, “The 4 Points”, a Feature Film, just received a distribution deal. My latest project, “Operation: Dark Waters”, another multiple award winning short film is receiving great recognition and will continue the festival run for the rest of year before hitting streaming platforms.
My Influence of story telling comes from movies from Tony Scott. “Man on Fire” was the film that got me very interested in filmmaking. The gritty, rough street, type of topics that happen everyday that most of us don’t see or hear about. I love the under dog stories as well, mainly true stories from individuals with a troubled past that are able to change their lives for the better. I love those types of stories and hope to continue making them.
One skill that helped me was communication. I wasn’t the greatest at it but through errors of my own, I found it’s very important to posses this skill and to clearly, agree or disagree when working with multiple individuals that hold some kind of creative control in the projects I Write, Produce and Direct. In telling stories, communication is key.
Confidence (Not overly confident), is another major skill needed in this industry especially in the Directing world from what I’ve learned. If you don’t have Confidence on set to share your vision, people start chiming in on what this or that shot should be, how the cast should deliver lines, then you have too many cooks in the kitchen and start to lose your vision.
Kindness, I try to treat everyone that I work with, with the utmost respect and kindness. Yes, we are making a film and we want to take it seriously but I also believe it should be fun. There are millions of people im sure, that would love to be in our shoes of filmmaking so, it’s a dream for many, let’s have fun. Smile, Live, Love, Laugh have a great time doing what you love to do. Wether it’s Directing, Editing, Cinematography, Acting, Sound Mixing, Camera Operating… Always be Kind, and love what you do.
