Experiencing Interruptions?

On the Ground

On the Ground is a sonic meditation and a spiritual journey captured through a visual experience. By way of meditation, a young woman begins working through the self from the inside out using the seven chakras as a grounding foundation. Starting at the root and ending at the crown she breaks through the barriers of her subconscious thoughts and emotions.

This work is an inner exploration and investigation of what it means to be seen, heard and felt without the outside influence of society. It is the deeply rooted and important work that the community can engage in and experience. It was scored intentionally to include the healing frequency for each chakra so that you feel in your body what you see through your eyes.

Director Statement

I chose to shoot, direct, and score this short film because it was rooted in a deep personal connection. The artist in the film, Felisha George, is not only is an incredibly talented musician, performer and writer, but she was also my former middle school student.

Upon her graduating, we began to write music together and our reconnection brought forth some beautiful projects.

Furthermore, her advocacy and pursuits in activism for BIPOC and LGBTQ communities is inspiring and prompted me to create this visual for a grant she was applying for. The aim was to highlight not only her journey as a solo female artist, but to show her deep connection to her familial roots in preparation for what she is yet to become. Her passion for meditation and nature was central to the theme both visually and sonically, as I composed all original music in frequencies of different chakras to act as a soundtrack on her quest of self actualization.
