Experiencing Interruptions?

One Night in Portland

One Night in Portland documents one of the nightly protests for black lives that was taking place in Portland, Oregon throughout most of 2020. It offers the perspective of my unsuspecting boomer parents, who despite supporting me in all of my political endeavors, really had no idea how brutal the police response could be to a non-violent protest. Over the course of twelve minutes and twenty-seven second, a conversation between myself, Ethan “Keek” Bochicchio, and my parents Rhonda Hayter and Stephen Bochicchio tracks the shift in their understanding of the police response to non-violent protest while footage treats the viewer to a glimpse of what my parents saw first-hand. One Night in Portland provides a raw look at policing of protest in the United States and a glimpse into the experience of becoming enlightened to that truth.
