Josh Harris is a Welsh writer-director currently working in Bristol. After graduating in 2018, Josh founded ZooTime Productions and has produced polished, inventive video content for creative and corporate partners including BBC Histories, UNESCO and Lavazza.
In 2020, Josh won the Surreal Prize at the 2020 London Music Video Festival for his video “Catching Flies - Raffles”, something he describes as combining “expressionistic editing” with a “handmade, surrealist style [and] lo-fi aesthetic” to create a “fever-dreamlike looped narrative.”
Josh’s vision for his own filmmaking is inspired by the micro-budget sensibilities of Ben Wheatley, the kinetic camera of Edgar Wright, the expressionism of Mark Jenkin and the visceral visual language of Dario Argento. As a storyteller, his preoccupation with the fragility of the human body is almost Cronenbergian in its intensity.
Following three world-renowned horror films to come out of Wales (Saint Maud, Censor, and Gwleđđ), Sinema Cymru is forming an incredibly exciting and contemporary identity. Our growing horror-based cinema provides an opportunity for Welsh directors to explore the beautiful melancholy of our home, praise our rural eccentricities and provide a worldwide message of what modern Wales looks like. I am passionate about continuing this tradition, to use the beauty of my homeland and utilising the talent that Wales has on offer, a philosophy that started with One Night Only.
