Director Biography - Aaron Leong

Born and brought up in the East Coast of Singapore, Aaron is a largely self-taught filmmaker through work and experience. At the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Aaron embarked on his first short film that was funded by savings from his first full-time employment. One Friday Night was picked up in a few festival circuits in Singapore, Europe and Canada Since then, Aaron has opened up a production company to produce original content. While shuffling in between various commercial gigs, Aaron continues writing down story ideas for his next film. In September 2023, Aaron plans to release his second short film that was funded by business savings from his commercial engagements. While working to produce his next film, Aaron hopes that one day he can have his work recognised and be given a chance to have them commissioned for the big screen.

Director Statement

I enjoy hearing stories that delve into the interior lives of people. Many of these stories do not have the appropriate words to accompany the situations that they find themselves in. Hence films have become my medium to tell these stories, to give them a voice when they do not know that they have one.
