The One Eye Film Festival in Dubbo, Australia was originally created in 2012 as an opportunity for local filmmakers to screen their films.

We have since added categories for other Australian and international filmmakers to share their short films to give local audiences and filmmakers wider exposure to the form.

There are no prizes, there is no theme. We exist to promote filmmaking and film viewing around Dubbo and surrounding areas and to give independent short films a chance to be screened to an enthusiastic live audience.

We want to see as wide a range of films as possible.

All genres welcome.

Student films
Narrative
Documentary
Music video
Experimental,
Video art

Anything you can think of!

Films do not necessarily need to be family friendly but we will not consider films with overly-graphic sex or violence.

We strongly encourage you to include with your project files at least one photo and a trailer or teaser - this makes it a lot easier for organisers to promote your project (if selected).

Please note: longer short films may be accepted by arrangement - please get in touch if you would like to be considered .

Submit your film via FilmFreeway online screener.

For all entry requirements and conditions, please view the below Rules and Terms for information including technical specifications sheet.

To optimise the quality of your submitted film, make sure you view it on different devices (e.g., computer monitor, TV, etc) to identify and correct any quality problems with sound or picture. Please contact Dubbo Filmmakers if you'd like some advice. This article has some great tips to help improve quality:

  • I am immensely grateful for the incredible experience at One Eye Film Festival organised by Dubbo Filmmakers. The seamless submission process and clear communication from your team set the stage for what turned out to be a truly memorable festival.

From the moment my film, "Akhrot," was accepted to the screening itself, every step was marked by professionalism, warmth, and a genuine passion for cinema. The festival provided a platform not only for showcasing films but for fostering a sense of community among filmmakers.

The curation of films showcased a diverse tapestry of storytelling, and I felt honored to be a part of such a rich lineup. The attention to detail in organizing the event, both in-person, reflected the dedication of your team to creating a top-notch experience for participants and audiences alike.

Thank you, One Eye Film Festival, for elevating my film and providing a platform for it to reach new audiences.

  • It was great to have my short film "Fat ducks mean fat cattle" included in the public screening. Disappointed I couldn't attend in person. Communication with organisers was clear and concise. This is a real festival with a real public screening attended by real people. Really nice to have been included.
