Valery Zhmak is a Russian writer currently living in Bulgaria. He is the author of detective novels, famous film novellas "Time of the First", "The Icebreaker", "Lev Yashin", "Pilot Devyataev" as well as many short stories published in Russian-language anthologies and magazines in the USA, Israel, Ukraine and Russia.
Before the Russian invasion of Ukraine he successfully worked under the pseudonym "Valery Sharapov" and led one of the most popular detective series in the Russian book market "The Anxious Spring of '45. The postwar detective series.
Member of the Russian Writers Union and the North American Writers Union.
Winner of the National Literary Award "Golden Pen of Russia" in the category "Prose".
