Experiencing Interruptions?

On Air

What happens on camera is nothing compared to what goes on behind it. After the former producer of the hit variety show Weekly Tonight is fired, it's revealed that the network has hired an interim producer to take over the day to day duties, much to the dismay of the show's childish, easygoing, and fun loving star, the leading man (child) Josh Tilson. Fearing that a new producer means changes to the show he helped create, Josh vows to make the new head's first day be his last, in a cerebral chess match to find out who really runs the studio- the suit or the subordinate.

Director Statement

When asked if I wanted to direct the “On Air” pilot, I knew I wanted to because I had seen the previously shot version and connected with the idea. Besides having a personal interest in writing and directing sitcoms, the story was creative, funny and timely, which drew me to it. The original pilot was also shot handheld, using the mockumentary style, which gives “On Air” its unique feel and we used that same style in this version, which is used in other hit sitcoms like “The Office.” Working with this cast and crew was an amazing experience and I am excited to use everything I learned from “On Air” on my future projects. I’m looking forward to sharing our story with audiences and hope that everyone enjoys “On Air.”
