My name is Oksana. All my life I have been fond of movies and literature. I started writing prose and poetry around the age of 11 or 12. But my love for movies started even earlier, in a dying village near the mountains in Kazakhstan, where my grandmother was once exiled. She is my inspiration with a steely temperament. When I was about four years old, I saw Ridley Scott's movie "Alien" for the first time, and it made a deep impression on me. In sixth grade, I told my parents I wanted to be a filmmaker. To put it mildly, they weren't thrilled. But I was confident in my choice, even though I did not yet know that my journey would last eight years.
Secretly from my family, I applied to a directing program in Kazakhstan and successfully passed the entrance exams. I prepared to apply in Russia, but every time I was thrown back: I had to earn money urgently. I moved during the turmoil in my homeland, and there were many other things I can't tell you about yet. During that time, I gained a tremendous amount of experience: I have lived in three capitals of the world, including Colombia, and I have moved a total of nine times in my life.
In Kazakhstan, I worked in a casino, and after relocating, I joined Russia's largest publishing house, Eksmo. I became their top employee, and my work was broadcast across all regional distribution centers in the country. After moving to Moscow, I worked as a fitness trainer, but then I left everything behind to try again.
I honed my skills through screenwriting courses in film schools and intensive workshops while practicing my craft. I directed a short film and managed to assemble a team of 15 people based on altruism and a shared love for cinema. Everything was going smoothly, but during the third shift, we faced challenges with a complex location: a prison sewing shop. It was impossible to find a new location quickly, and important members of the team dispersed. I was left with a rough cut from two shifts, and I made the difficult decision to abandon this project and move forward.
Currently in the editing stage is a European short film in which I participated as a screenwriter. I write both collaboratively and independently, sometimes taking on the role of editor.
