Won Best of Utah Award 2017 –"Best Sundance Replacement" by Salt Lake City Weekly

OUR STORY
When Paramount Pictures founder William Hodkinson first sketched the mountain peak logo that has since become one of Hollywood’s most recognizable emblems, he said it was in “memory of his childhood home in Utah.” Hodkinson grew up in Ogden and eventually opened the first movie theater in the city. Within a few years, the Ogdenite changed the way movies were produced, distributed, exhibited and has been called “The Man Who Invented Hollywood.”

The inaugural Ogden Film Festival celebrates the best in local film and talent. From acclaimed features to amateur short films, the Ogden Film Festival is a place for filmmakers to showcase their talent to audiences in a historic cinema venue — Peery's Egyptian Theater.

The Ogden mountains that inspired Hodkinson to reshape Hollywood are proof that talent and inspiration can be found in the most unlikely of places, that artists are only bound by their determination.

The venue was amazing and the turnout was great. The quality of picture and sound really helped show the quality of the films selected. I wish there were more networking opportunities, but for a weekday, the schedule was handled well and I enjoyed the conversations I was able to take part in. Thank you for all the hard work! It really showed and I was honored to be a part of the festival!

Thanks for leaving a review Lindsay! We are working to create more networking opportunities for next year with a multi-day festival. This year the schedule was jam-packed with screenings, but we know how important the networking component is, so it will definitely be a bigger part of the schedule next year. Thanks again!

Terrific festival run by a wonderful team in one of the most beautiful, historic theaters I've seen. The Egyptian Theater is an amazing venue - a treasure preserved by a dedicated group of incredible people - and it was such a treat to have Up to Snuff featured there. And the entire festival crew lead by Kasey and Tyler were fantastic. This was my first visit to Ogden but it won't be my last. UT is lucky to have people like the Ogden Film Festival and Egyptian Theater Foundation dedicated to preserving these rich independent film traditions in Ogden.
