I am an award-winning Italian-Canadian filmmaker known for exploring narratives centered on complex familial relationships, trauma, and the human condition. Filmmaking has been a vital tool for me to navigate my own experiences with trauma, upbringing, and mental health. Through my work, I aim to tell universal stories that not only entertain but also offer hope, giving voice to the unspoken parts of ourselves that we often keep hidden.
My films have received recognition at Canadian Screen Award Qualifying festivals, including the Windsor International Film Festival, Forest City Film Festival, and Blood in the Snow. Recently, my short film Riddance was awarded a production grant from the Toronto Arts Council, a testament to my commitment to creating impactful, thought-provoking work. Additionally, my screenwriting has achieved runner-up positions at both the Austin Film Festival and the Cinequest Film Festival.
I continue to seek out stories that resonate on personal and universal levels, exploring the complexities of the human experience. Currently, I am developing new projects that delve deeper into these themes, striving to connect with audiences and inspire meaningful conversations through the power of film.
As a filmmaker, I am committed to telling stories that explore the complexities of human experience. "Of Late" was born from a desire to address grief during the holiday season, a time that can be both joyful and painful.
Our team of trained filmmakers, united by our personal experiences with loss, sought to create a narrative that captures the journey of grief and the search for hope. This film is dedicated to those we are mourning.
By exploring themes of loss and resilience, "Of Late" aims to connect with audiences who may feel isolated in their struggles. We hope to raise awareness and foster empathy, particularly for those who haven't faced profound loss. Our goal is for the film to resonate with anyone experiencing adversity, especially during the holidays.
We are eager to honor our loved ones through this project and hope "Of Late" inspires love and understanding throughout the year.
Warmly,
Jamie Knox (he/him)
