Michelle Roy was raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She began her acting career on-camera at Children's Television Studios and then went on to graduate from On-Camera Acting at TVS-TV Studios.

From 2007 to 2011, Michelle worked full time days while she attended evening and weekend classes and graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) with a Certificate in Psychology (Specialization: Abnormal Psychology), while also working part time evenings for her student union, and while attending Armstrong Acting Studios, Toronto, Canada (while she also worked there part-time as a Teaching Assistant during evenings and weekends).

Michelle published her first novel (horror, occult, romance) in 2012 called, "Black: A Novel" under the pseudonym of Mae Sekhmet (which she later wrote, directed, produced, and acted in a short film adaptation). From 2016 to 2021 Michelle attended On-Camera Acting coaching at LB Acting Studio, Toronto, Canada. In late 2017, Michelle published her second Novel (horror, science-fiction, romance) called, "Rycombinant_9" under her legal name of Michelle Roy. Both novels are available through Lulu Publishing.

In March 2018, Michelle was voted Vice-Chair of the ACTRA Toronto Apprentice Caucus for a 2-year term. In February 2020, she was voted Member-At-Large on the ACTRA Toronto Apprentice Caucus for a 2-year term. Since 2021, she has also been involved in the outACTRAto Committee. In 2022, she was again voted Vice-Chair of the ACTRA Toronto Apprentice Caucus for a second 2-year term. However, she resigned a couple of months into her term, due to joining the ACTRA union as a full member, and also joined the ACTRA Toronto Green Committee that was launched in 2022.

In October 2023, Michelle graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) with a Certificate in Film Studies (focusing on Producing, Fiction Screenwriting, Sound Design, Directing, Cinematography, editing, and Grip/Gaffer) and has written several short film screenplays, a comedy television series, and a web series that are in various stages of development.
