International waters constitute 61% of the global ocean. They belong to no nation, yet many vessels from all over the world exploit them. Sea Shepherd is a marine conservation group that works on the frontline to tackle the problems of poaching and unregulated fishing worldwide. Groups of dedicated volunteers venture out to sea for months-long campaigns to protect marine life. They don’t shy away from direct action, frequently getting into tense confrontations with poachers and fishermen.
