We kindly invite you to submit your film to the 18th edition of ONE WORLD ROMANIA International Documentary & Human Rights Film Festival, which will take place between April 4th – 13th, 2025, in Bucharest, Romania.
If your film is a feature, mid-length or short creative documentary finished after January 1st, 2023, regardless of its premiere status, make sure to send it our way, to be considered for cinema screening in one of the festival sections.
One World Romania is the first documentary film festival established in Bucharest as well as the only Romanian festival dedicated to human rights. Over its first 17 editions, the festival has turned into a civic and cinematic platform, promoting documentary film as a vehicle for social and political dialogue, a window to the world, a medium that sparks reflection and forms communities.
The festival is focused on non-fiction films that cover subjects such as: human rights, social/political/environmental/race issues, LGBTQIA+, civism/global citizens, justice, free speech.
Good to know: Eastern European & Global South creative documentaries will be prioritized, as a way to encourage communication between nations and the promotion of films from less privileged territories.
A representative of each selected film is invited to participate in the festival and will be offered free travel and accommodation. Our festival is focused on authentic dialogues with the filmmakers as much as on screening the films – so your presence is much valued.
One World Romania is a competitive festival – but one that thinks of competition as a form of dialogue and not as a hierarchy. The festival offers an award to a documentary film which will be designated by a Jury of High School Students.
The selection in the festival is the real prize we offer and we will do everything possible for the filmmakers to feel this during their presence at One World Romania. All films participating in the festival receive selection laurels that can be added to the credits of the film.
