O SERAPIS
O SERAPIS is a story merging, on the one hand, the biblical text of Exodus and, on the other hand, the myth of Apis in the ancient Egypt.
While Moïse climbs Mount Sinaï, the Hebrew people, following him out of Egypt, melt all of their jewelry to forge an idole : a Golden Calf, directly inspired by the Bull-God Apis - incarnation of the primordial entity Ptah and symbol of fertility.
In this new version of the biblical story, a game of analogies takes place between the characters Moïse, Apis, Yahvé, Ptah, the Hebrew and the Egyptian people. O SERAPIS renews philosophical, theological, moral and political problematics, by playing with themes such as worshipping, personality cult and relationship to sacred in traditional or contemporary societies.
These open questions, using multiples visual codes, are staged in a short silent movie, its modern sounds and colors directly referring to the contemporary videoclip production.
