OPEN THE WINDOWS

KHIDKIYAN KHOL DO is a short story about a major social issue prevailing in our
society.
In recent years, violence against women in the city has received a great deal of
attention in the media, amongst activists, law enforcers and general citizenry.
However, much of the outrage has been limited to certain public incidents of
physical sexual violence or rape.
Nobody talks about the ‘gaze’, the uncomfortable yet inconsequential ‘gaze’
which makes a woman calculate where and when they will need to go, where
and when they will have to be alert and walk faster in a dark patch of the city.
Because a woman cannot question or take any legal action against someone
who didn’t touch her but just stared at her!
Even if she tries to report it under a crime, the authorities would probably shun
her away by making the man apologize with a ‘sorry’ while they discuss it over
the chai tapri referring to the incident as something insignificant or ‘making
mountain out of a mole-hill.’
Eyes speak louder than words, yes, eyes can communicate respect, threat,
interest, boredom, honesty, intimacy, and encouragement as well.
Eve-teasing, stalking and harassment have their own repercussions and are
widely renowned. However, ‘Staring’ at a woman has no serious repercussions or
legal consequences. Nobody really realizes the kind of impact those stares can
create and the fear they can instill on a woman’s mind. Hence, Khidkiyaan Khol
Do is more than a metaphor, it’s a movement which desires to create more
awareness about this social issue and make people conscious about it.

Director Biography - VIJAY KUMAR DOGRA

Vijay Kumar Dogra was born and brought up in Delhi. Having an interest into Business insights and it’s working, he opted for commerce as his field of study. He graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Commerce from Delhi University’s Motilal Nehru College. After having a stable career of a real estate consultant, Vijay now decided to follow his true passion.
He has always been interested in acting and now he wanted to explore it in detail..
Hence, he pursued an acting course from Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts, New Delhi.
This marked the beginning of his acting career.
He spent more than 10 years in theatre, trying to improve himself and work on his acting skills. He played numerous roles in different stage plays such as Midsummer Night’s dream, Thankyou baba Lochandas, Hawalaat, Diploma in Corruption, Sakharam Binder, Taj Mahal ka tender and many more.
He soon got the opportunities to work in movies as well. He acted in the film ‘Talvar(2015)’ directed by Meghna Gulzar. He has also worked with actors like Akshay Kumar in the movie ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’. 2019 was indeed a happening year for him as he worked in several major projects like ‘The Pickup Artist’, ‘S.P. Chauhan’,‘Urf Ghanta’ ‘Axone’- directed by ‘Nicholas Kharkongor’, and a web series called ‘Delhi Crime - Season 2.
He has worked in major films such as ‘Sonchiraiya’, ‘Halahal’ and ‘Khaaki- The Bihar Chapter’ on Netflix directed by Bhav Dhulia.
His upcoming projects include ‘Class’ - an Indian adaptation of a netflix series called ‘Elite’
And ‘Uff’ which is a silent Bollywood movie, ‘Old Boy’ produced by B.B.C. Production house and 12th Fail directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
Vijay has also worked in several T.V. Commercials such as ‘TVS Sports Bike’, ‘Philips Sleep Apnea Machine’, ‘Airtel’, ‘U.P Government’, ‘Health Ministry- Zee News’.
Vijay is well traversed with languages and can speak multiple of them such as Hindi, English, Haryanvi, Himachali(Kangri/Dogri), Gujjari(U.P.) Bhojpuri and Bundelkhandi.
Vijay has a huge inclination towards travelling and exploring as well. He has been to different countries such as America, Nepal, China, Pakistan, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Monaco, Serbia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hongkong, Macau, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
Lastly, he always says that ‘Acting is my Passion……and I do it Honestly.’
