Nu-Vu
"Nu-Vu" is a subversion of the classic American road trip film. Reflective of my oscillating perception of American culture as an extension of my own identity, the film uncovers the artifice of American iconography to reveal an existential quality. Highlighted by the character’s perpetual motion, the film is a futile quest for meaning and substance. The abstract narration coupled with irregular pacing attempts to warp time and space - allowing the film to exist in a pocket of ephemeral timelessness.

Blue-Ren Marcus is a filmmaker working towards their BA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins. Transplanted from the U.S., their current practice uses Americana iconography as a way of exploring symbols and the meaning we assign them. Their work hinges on an interdisciplinary approach to research, relying on theory from fields as diverse as maths and sciences, philosophy, and anthropology as a lens through which to experiment and play. Blue-Ren's work spans across mediums, using writing, photography, print media, and sculpture to extend beyond the visual language they have developed in their emerging film practice.
