Experiencing Interruptions?

Not just a tree

As citizens in a developing country, people here still prioritize means to get more money than ways of saving environment.

The short film is based on the idea that people in big cities do not care much about the plants, the trees.

Therefore, not so many people realize how few plants they have left in a crowded city.

Not so many people realize that each tree has a number on its bark.

Not so many people realize how many kinds of trees they have in the city.

Instead of getting to know more the trees around them, people tend to cut down many trees to save space for something else, either for living or for commercial purpose, hence their no interest in trees around them.

Sadly, not so many people realize what the consequence they have to pay when more and more trees are disappearing to pave the way for many more buildings.

From the observation of numbers on the tree barks, as well as the famous quotes from Professor Guy McPherson, School of Natural Resources, University of Arizona: “If you think the economy is more important than the environment, try holding your breath while counting your money.”, the film has a sequence of counting the tree while holding breath.

After watching the short film, the viewer is expected to change the way he or she think about the surrounding environment.

Director Biography - Huy Tam

Since I was a high school student, I have had passionate interest in recording and making films. As time goes by, I have sharpened my skills in the field of photography and cinematography.

In order to upgrade my skills, I never stop learning from all resources that I can find out: From online like YouTube, Coursera, Udemy, etc. to offline: courses, classes, workshops, seminars.

I heard about the Nucleus contest 2 days ago. It was really challenging for me since I did not have enough time to get the film well done. However, in stead of giving up, I take it as a challenge and try my best to complete the task.

Even though the film is not perfect with limited time, I still have no regret since I did try my best to submit this form and film to you. That is the spirit and commitment of a passionate youth filmmaker like me.
