Nothingness
"We fight, and in the heart of the conflict, we discover only Nothingness."
Through a succession of animated and dynamic scenes, "Nothingness" explores the cyclical and inexorable nature of war, deeply rooted in the essence of the human being. The short film visually represents the conflict through different historical eras, from the Stone Age to the modern day, passing through civilizations such as the Vikings, Romans and others.
Each sequence shot shows men and women of various eras engaged in a constant battle, in an endless loop that highlights how conflict is an inherent part of human nature. The music, which begins immediately after the first epoch, punctuates the frenetic pace of the scenes, underlining the inexorability of this struggle. However, despite technological and cultural evolution, human beings continue to repeat themselves, fighting for something they never achieve.
At the height of the chaos, everything explodes. The landscape dissolves, leaving room for an image of desolation: a dry tree with few leaves and an unattainable sphere of light, symbol of a non-existent goal. A butterfly enters the scene, lands on the sphere, causing it to vanish, and then flies away, leaving the viewer to ponder: "What have we achieved?".
The short ends with a sense of emptiness, represented by the title "Nothingness", suggesting that, despite centuries of struggles and conquests, humanity has ultimately found no answers, but only an unbridgeable void.
