A Scottish Gem
This is a compelling, inspiring, and true story of a courageous mother, often compared to a Scottish Gem.
Despite the scars of childhood trauma triggered by their embittered, single-parenting mother, Carole eventually gives in to marrying her Prince Charming Richard aka Dick, giving birth to Kristy and Joseph, and moving into her dream house to live “happily ever after," or so she thought.
On December 24, 1999, Dick shatters Carole’s world by telling her that he has a girlfriend and wants a divorce. Months later, tests about a lump in her breast go from “There is nothing to worry about” to “I need your permission to remove your right breast” which marks the beginning of an unimaginable emotional roller coaster for years to come. Carole makes the hard decision to keep it a secret from anyone for as long as she can.
Cancer might stop some people in their tracks, but not Carole. Despite the brutal reality, her zest for life, wit, determination, and with the help of her family and friends who are playing a tremendous part in her amazing life, she never loses sight of the big picture. Carole takes flying lessons and even decides to pick up rock climbing. Then, she receives the great news to be cancer-free.
Carole faces another challenge by climbing the famous Matterhorn in Switzerland only to have to give up halfway through because of dangerous weather conditions. In 2002, on a blind date, Carole meets the love of her life and soul mate Sean, an American Sergeant with Scottish roots. Wasting no precious time and despite some immigration issues, Carole and Sean exchange vows at two separate weddings each in Scotland.
Carole and her two kids relocate to Long Island, NY where Sean lives. The kids adjust well but Carole struggles with her new lifestyle, his mother living in the same house, and the daily visits of his sister.
Her cancer comes back with a vengeance. She still decides to spare her family. In defiance of that demon invading her body, Carole becomes her advocate by spending endless hours weeding through the Internet on metastatic breast cancer and alternative cancer treatments. Once her illness leaves its cruel trail behind, Carole has no other choice but to confess her battle with cancer.
She participates in Breast Cancer Walks on Long Island and discovers a promising possible cure that still needs a lot of development.
Chemo and radiation don’t prevent Carole and her family from taking several trips. The hardest part is to lose her beautiful red locks, but Carole eventually makes peace by calling her newest wig “my new best friend Alicia."
In 2007, Astor Memorial Cancer Center, New York City, shatters Carole’s world by telling her that they stop all treatments. Devastated but not defeated, Carole seeks solace at the Padre Pio Centre in Pennsylvania, determined to receive the same miracle as people before her. Sean struggles with the thought of having to live without Carole by his side. Eventually, they find new hope at the T. Webb Cancer Treatment Centers, Philadelphia. After several tests, the doctors give Carole an eighty percent chance of recovery! After a promising start in treatments, Carole is the “Thousand to one chance” patient whose respiratory system is severely affected by the treatments. Despite her fighting spirit and being surrounded by so much love and support, Carole passes into eternal life on June 1, 2008.

My name is Yvonne Lucrezia Condrau, born, raised, and lived in Switzerland until 1993 and then found my way to New York City. I work in 5 languages fluently: English, Swiss German, German, French, and Italian.
I have been a storyteller since I was a little girl and captured my childhood audience with compelling stories. Later in life, I also worked as a freelance writer for a local newspaper. But a few years ago, my wonderful Papa’s passing inspired me to finally follow my dream.
I’m a Drama/Romance Screenwriter with a fifteen-time Award-winning Best Unproduced/Adapted Feature Screenplay "A Scottish Gem” and I hold the exclusive copyright. This script is based on my friend, Michele M. Rodger’s published novel (Carole's Story...A Scottish Gem). This compelling, true story with a strong Female Lead of indomitable spirit and working her magic has all the hallmarks of a drama and great romance that will leave audiences spellbound and touched. It’s a story that people can relate to on some tangible and emotional level even though Carole isn’t the daughter of someone famous but simply “the girl next door.”
I draw inspiration from my vibrant imagination and execute my creative vision with a keen eye for detail.
I am excited to work on my new, original Feature Screenplay: "Domino Effect" (Mystery/Drama).
Once I relocated to New York City, I worked as a Language Instructor, cross-cultural Advisor, and translator for a Nickelodeon/Viacom TV documentary. I also gained great insight into the industry as a featured Extra in numerous well-known movies/TV Shows such as "The Manchurian Candidate," "The Interpreter," "Stay," "Law & Order CI," etc.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management & Office Supervision from Switzerland and New York University, NYC, and studied Advanced Screenplay Writing at New York University, NYC.
I look forward to seeing my Award-winning Feature Screenplay "A Scottish Gem" being sold, produced, and on the silver screen very soon! I am seeking representation.
Gripped by the arc and finding a perfect balance of her radiant life, delicate, heartbreaking, and still full of humor this compelling, true story, with a strong female lead of indomitable spirit and working her magic has all the hallmarks of an emotional drama and great romance that will leave audiences spellbound and touched by sentiments. It is a story that people can relate to on some tangible and emotional level.
Haunted by her past and a cancer diagnosis, a divorced mother boldly embarks on a courageous journey of hope and is caught between true love and heart-wrenching obstacles.
