Director Statement

Slavery has been part of our history in Africa especially with the white man in picture which a lot of movies have depicted in many ways. Not A slave as a Movie tries to convey slavery in a different concept and the perspective at which i want us to see in today's slavery. It's not about the white and the black race thing anymore but rather same race enslaving themselves in our modern generation in the name of commerce, business, profits and, thereby subjecting their workers into dehumanizing conditions to the extent of humiliating, maltreating and transforming human into machines, working day and night, even over time with hard labor but were deprived of the benefits after all, while the so called masters enjoy the good things of life. The purpose of this film is to let us know that slavery still exist in our midst and to help reframe our minds on how we pensive slavery. You may even be a modern slave, you know but has no power to say nor do nothing.
I was inspired to write this movie when my government who could not pay my friend's father after putting in several years of work, no pension nor gratuity was offered even as he was confined to the wheel chair. This made his life miserable. he lived like a poor man in the 50s, wearing worn out clothes and could not afford to feed his family. Finally he died, may his soul rest in peace. Please lets have a rethink on how we treat and manage our workers because it may amount to slavery.
It doesn't matter if you are white, black or anything, we are all human.
