The Northeast Filmmakers Lab 6th edition is designed by and for filmmakers. If there's one word that describes us, its "relationship," if it's two words, then it's "break-through."
Modeled after Rotterdam, our intimate setting is designed to be supportive, friendly and offer direct one-on-one access to veteran filmmakers, producers, entertainment attorneys, noted actors, casting directors, budgeting experts, marketing strategists and more. Meaningful industry panel discussions encourage audience participation in open dialogue about the creative and business aspects of filmmaking. Whatever the project, we have two main goals: (1) help filmmakers complete their works-in-progress and (2) reach as wide an audience as possible.

Capital Cinema Cultural Exchange, Inc (CCCE), a not-for-profit, hosts the Northeast Filmmakers Lab 6th edition November 1-3 2019. Day One: in a small group setting, lab participants will present projects and meet industry mentors, network with fellow industry filmmakers. Day Two: lab participants will meet one-on-one with 8-10 industry mentors, attend Film Talks, mixers, screenings and network in the Filmmakers Lounge.

Past breakout sessions include one on one with actor Stephen Lang (Avatar), discussions hosted by Passion River film distributors on Social media; Seed n Spark: “Crowd Funding: Alternate Strategies to Crowd Building & Marketing”; “Casting to Make Your Movie Travel,” and “Film Financing & Distribution,” plus many other need-to-know topics in today's rapidly changing media landscape.

We welcome SHORTS, DOCUMENTARIES and FEATURE FILMS and other projects in various stages of development.

If accepted, lab participants will be housed by host families. U.S. and international lab participants traveling from afar will receive a travel stipend (tbd). Some meals are provided. You won't find a less expensive, smart or friendlier setting. Even if your project is not selected for the lab, just for applying, you will receive a "Smart Pass" which provides you access to intimate project presentations, Film Talks, screenings and the industry lounge.

Our aim is to help filmmakers of all ages advance your next project toward completion. In our first five years, lab participants went on to complete their projects, screen in dozens of film festivals, air on television, receive offers to be optioned, or enter production. We're serious about helping you understand the creative business of filmmaking such that you might avoid costly mistakes and complete your next project.

Prizes are the connections you will make. For example, you'll meet the director of the Electric City Screenwriter's Contest which offers cash prizes to winning entries. Anyone participating in NEFL gets to apply free.

The world is waiting for your story, yet challenges face most filmmakers. The unique connections and long-term relationships you develop here make the value of this professional lab well over $2,000. What you gain is "access" and leave with relationships you'll want to keep. Many of our filmmakers return to develop their next project and help other filmmakers using our successful lab model.

The Northeast Filmmakers Lab prides itself on inclusion. We don't host parties you cannot attend. First, you must complete the on-line application. Up to six (6) new projects will join past lab participants. Lab fellows must attend all industry scheduled activities and commit to monthly follow-up conference calls with industry mentors (30 minutes per month). Up to two participants per project may attend the lab.

Projects further in development may be the focus of the lab, however, projects in all stages are considered in the application process. Our basic requirement: upon completion of your project, filmmakers must recognize NEFL in your project's closing credits, "This project supported in part by (insert NEFL Logo)."

The Northeast Filmmakers Lab was jam-packed with useful feedback sessions and fun networking events. The focus is on getting your project made independently. So it's great for indie filmmakers who need some advice or encouragement at any stage of their project.

What a great line up of panels and one-on-one mentorships with serious professionals in the industry. You feel supported, encouraged, and well taken care of throughout. It's like a productive vacation to remind you why you love film and specifically your film project.
