Nolan Huber-Rhoades (they/he) is a filmmaker based in Atlanta, Georgia—the ancestral homeland of the Mvskoke (Creek) People. Nolan's PhD research on Narrative Paradigm Theory has inspired him to use film, psychology, and social science to disrupt oppression and tell paradigm-shifting stories.
In 2021, Nolan and R2ise to Recovery received a grant from the Fulton County Board of Commissioners, Fulton County Arts and Culture, and The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities to direct Hope Rising—a 5-part docu-series about women who are using art as a pathway to recovery. Most recently, he has worked with hip hop artist, activist, and politician, Mariah Parker (A.K.A. Linqua Franqa), to direct award-winning music videos that challenge core aspects of the white supremacist, capitalist, patriarchy. Nolan will graduate with his PhD in 2024 and will continue to build his body of work as a director, researcher, and community organizer. Nolan's dream is to use the power of film to build narrative power for a more just and equitable world—however that manifests.
