Director Biography - Ayelén Muzo

Ayelén Muzo is a Spanish actress who trained at one of the most prestigious acting schools in Spain known as the International Acting School Juan Carlos Corazza. At the same time as studying acting, she was also completing her degree in Psychology (specifically clinical psychology) at the Complutense University of Madrid.

Dissatisfied with the world on stage, she decided to train in audiovisual arts and study acting on screen at the Compañía Cine school. It was here that she started to act in short films, such as Hienas, directed by Norberto Ramos del Val.

In 2012, she decided to move to Mexico City to try her luck in a different setting and widen her theater experience. She worked as an actress in Microteatro Mexico for three seasons, as well as “El cielo en la piel”, “Inacabados” ,“A Midnight Summer’s Dream”. In addition, she also starred in the TV show, “La reina soy yo” (Televisa), “Luis Miguel” (Netflix), and “Atrapada” (Imagen TV).

She started working as Assistan Director for several plays. After her success as AD and the way she worked with actors, she was invited to direct “Una puta crítica”, a play that was nominated in Microteatro Mexico.

Her lastest work as a director was in the short film written and directed by her "Click like and Share", which was nominated in the 48h film project to 14 categories including Best Director, Best Short Film and Best Screenplay.

Director Statement

I wanted to tell a story in which there was almost no dialogue; where all the dramatic tension was in the actions and in what happens, not in what is being said. To do something different and more realistic I wanted to do it in sequence, this helps for the emotional process of the character to be in real time. There we see everything. We see how her life changes in an instant. From the time she goes to the pharmacy to buy "her poison" until her plans are interrupted by her husband. Perhaps it was a sign that it was not her time, or perhaps karma does its job and takes who it has to take. I'd like to leave that to the imagination of the viewer.
