PJ Starr is the director of NO HUMAN INVOLVED and the transmedia specialist for the Brazilian film A KISS FOR GABRIELA. She has also made a number short of films about the experiences of people in the sex trade. This work includes for example documenting organizing efforts on behalf of the India-based Karnataka Sex Workers Union during the World Social Forum in 2009 producing a short film for that group in 2010. PJ Starr holds a Ph.D. in Latin American Studies/Anthropology and completed her post-doctoral studies at Columbia University. She has founded several non-profit organizations and continue to be connected to this sector. She have been a consultant and advisor to the Sexual Health and Rights Program (SHARP), Human Rights Watch, the World Health Organization, and other UN agencies on related issues (i.e. criminalization, access to justice, transgender rights and sex work).
